Auto Security Devices - Safety For Your Vehicle   no comments

So how much do you love your car? Most people do, more so than most material objects. People can be very passionate when it comes to their wheels. Naturally, we hate to see a beloved vehicle damaged in any way. If a scratch on the hood upsets you, think how horrified you would feel if your car were stolen! Don’t worry; auto security devices can help safeguard your prized possession.

I am not saying that auto security devices can provide you a complete guarantee against car theft. No, they can’t do that and therefore don’t even think of lapsing on the premium payment for car insurance. But these security devices certainly make it extremely difficult for any car thief to rob you of your favorite set of wheels.

Car alarm systems include several basic elements. The most obvious is an alarm, which draws people’s attention when suspicious behaviors, such as attempts at forced entry, occur. The purpose of an alarm is to scare away potential thieves before they can carry away your possessions.

Given, the multitude of products in this segment, it is difficult to name any one alarm system as the best alarm system. However, it can be surmised that best car alarm systems are fail-proof and intelligent enough to distinguish between a thief and a stray dog. You certainly don’t want the alarm to go off, if your pet brushes your car door.

Some cars come with pre-installed auto security devices. When you buy the car, the security system and related accessories are part of its standard equipment. If you want to install auto security devices in your own car, however, you will need to take it to an auto shop or a certified electronics dealer. Before you do so, be sure to get quotes and read reviews of the various devices that are on the market.

You also need to customize the security system. You can attach GPS devices to track your car. You can also install devices that can lock your car using your cell phone or handheld device. Make sure that you get the customization of auto security devices done by a respected dealer.

Hybrid Cars   no comments

These days it’s cool to be green. And while the environment is always a concern, high gas prices probably have more to do with America’s new found green movement than anything. No longer do we want those gas guzzlers - we want the fuel sipping hybrid cars to be the ones lining our driveways.

Only a few years ago talk of hybrid cars had consumers stepping back unsure; but today hybrids offer a practical choice for consumers, and more and more consumers are jumping on board.

So let’s take a look at what a hybrid is exactly. We all know they’re more fuel efficient, but why? Well, the hybrid has an electric motor (powered by a battery pack) that helps provide power needed with acceleration. The batteries are charging continuously while you drive.

One cool feature that you find on a lot of hybrids is that when you stop at a stoplight for more than a few seconds, the engine shuts off. Other hybrids will turn off unneeded cylinders when driving on the highway to save fuel.

Another fuel saving innovation is the fact that many hybrid vehicles are simply lighter. They tend to be more aerodynamic and use lighter materials in construction.

The sales figures for hybrid vehicles have shown increased demand every year for the vehicles. Right now the demand for fuel efficient hybrids is far eclipsing the actual supply. Just try to buy yourself a Prius at your local dealership and notice how they’re not going to budge on the price. You’ll pay full sticker because if you don’t, someone else will.

Nearly all Japanese and American auto manufacturers offer vehicles with hybrid systems. European manufacturers have been a little slower to embrace hybrid vehicles, and have been opting to make more fuel efficient diesel vehicles instead. (as long as it saves me money on gas, I really don’t care what they do.)

The current king of hybrids lies with the Toyota Prius which has a population over 1 million strong.

Manufacturers are certainly scrambling to offer more hybrids to lineups and if you follow cars you know that 2010 is going to be a good year to be green.

While nobody can say for sure what will be powering our vehicles in 50 years, we can say with certainty that the hybrid is a definite part of our immediate future, and likely will remain a major player for quite some time.

by Barry Crewse

Improve my gas mileage! If you listen closely, you can hear that demand echo through time since the start of the industrial age. Nearly 100 years have gone by trying to figure out the best way to do it.

Many gas mileage devices have been developed over the last 75 years which have nearly doubled the mileage cars now get but progress has been slow. Without question there has been nearly no improvement in gas mileage in nearly 20 years.

The fix? The Auto X Prize competition has officially launched in March and is sponsored by the Progressive auto insurance company. The goal? The first 100mgp car and you can still get in.

The Auto X Prize will award a $10 million dollar prize to the first person…or group of persons…who can demonstrate that 100mpg achievement during cross-country races.

The races are scheduled to begin in 2009 so if you are game to invent the first car that can provide a solution to the “improve my gas mileage” demands of decades, get building!

Do you think you have what it takes to make your mark in history? So what exactly are the rules to this competition? What is the goal of it all?

To start with, the goals are fairly simple. We need to get off our dependence on foriegn oil. We need cars that are totally efficient and we need them to be environmentally responsible. Bottom line? Improve my gas mileage!

The winning car will demonstrate an easy concept and something that is simple to understand. Something along the line of a car that you and I could actually work on. Is that even possible now days?

It’s benefits need to be globally beneficial and with that in mind it is a global completion. No matter where you are from, your brains and your talent are welcome.

The winning car must also be a car that everyone can purchase. Concept cars or idea cars are not allowed. It’s got to be ready for production.

Some of the other rules are those such as only fair and non partisan contestants are allowed. If you are asking yourself what that is…you are pretty safe to enter. Also, fuel efficiency, performance, emission, safety and other issues need to be addressed.

Don’t get hung up on the technicals. If you can build something that you can enter and it is capable of being manufactured then all shade tree mechanics world wide need to get busy!

Imagine the implications of such a contest not only for those who might win but for the entire world at large!

Imagine for a moment how life could change for all of us and how the far reaching effects into other industries would change life as we know it.

There is much more info online concerning the cars with best gas mileage if you know where to look so let your finger do the walking and maybe you too will see gas mileage improvement beyond your wildest imagination!

Deciding on the Best Design for Your Custom Motorcycle   no comments

Posted at 3:12 am in Automotive
by Jeff Glasser

So you’ve decided you really do want a custom motorcycle. Congratulations, you’ve just taken the easy step. Now comes the fun part of choosing what type of custom motorcycle you desire. Do you want a truly custom job that you design, or are you willing to trust the imagination of a motorcycle manufacturer? There are benefits either way. If you decide to play a major part in the design of the custom motorcycle, there is the added benefit of knowing that the bike will truly represent you. So here are a few tips to help you design the best bike.

Tip # 1 Pick an Overall Theme

Chances are there is an overall theme to the bike for any custom motorcycle that you have come to admire. It doesn’t have to be something specific; some people simply use a single idea such as a wave or the wind as the idea that they are trying to present with their motorcycle. Others have a more specific motif in mind, such as spider webs or a shout-out to World War II vets.

Tip # 2 Choose a Bike Sized For the Rider

It is a very good thing a custom motorcycle can come in just about any size considering motorcycle riders span just about every physical size out there. If you want your motorcycle to be truly customized, make sure your bike design is built to fit your body. Design a bike that is a little bit wider and has a wider tire, if you’re a little more heavyset, or you want a bike that is great for touring the country.

Tip# 3: Select Parts that are Replaceable

Choosing to make the motorcycle with parts that are hard to find, is one of the areas where most new designers of a custom motorcycle make the biggest mistake. It’s a hard truth underlying just about any mechanical endeavor — parts will break down eventually. A real hassle is having to hunt for parts at different mechanic shops.

Tip # 4: Find a Color Scheme that Fits Your Style

Perhaps one of the most noticeable parts of a custom motorcycle is the paint job. Many people spend hours upon hours trying to decide on the perfect look for their custom motorcycle. Instead, take a look at the world around you for inspiration; chances are you’ll be able find the best choice for your color scheme out there.

The Car Tuning Industry Explained   no comments

Posted at 2:45 am in Automotive
by Chris Channing

Enthusiasts and car dealers alike are getting in on the popular car tuning industry, which has shown to be quite profitable in resell value of a car and overall bragging rights. There are many ways to “juice up” a car or truck to make it more valuable on the market, but keep in mind most additions are to make the vehicle more personalized for the owner.

The majority of tuning options for performance enthusiasts will be made to the engine of the vehicle. Engine tuning is the process of replacing or adding parts to the vehicle engine to get more power or even to get better gas mileage. The simplest of all engine tuning operations is going to be the simple replacement of the air filter.

A good body kit is giong to do wonders for a body tuning job. Body kits make a vehicle look just as impressive as they are beneficial to aerodynamic ratings. Getting an aerodynamic body kit allows for better gas mileage- which will eventually pay for itself over the years if all goes well.

Another cosmetic tuning job would be to redo the paint on the vehicle in question. Even a simple pin stripe is going to be costly- so be prepared to shell out the big bucks even for the little additions. Full-fledged paint jobs will likely cost a couple of thousand dollars, so be sure to debate whether or not the cost is worth the effect.

Keep in mind that not all tuning kits are legal in some parts of the world. Some countries demand that blue lights not be used, since emergency vehicles commonly use such lights. In the majority of places, neon lights can’t be used since they are seen as distracting. In the case of neon lights, there are usually some loopholes where the lights can be used while parked for “show”- but specific laws differ from one country to another.

Car tuning is a very fine process- and one can very easily ruin their vehicle by adding modifications to it. In addition, this will often violate the warrant in which factories give out. So if the car is damaged for a reason totally unrelated to the modification, the owner is out of luck! The best course of action would be to only agree to use car tuning kits on cars that have passed warranty.

In Conclusion

Take careful note that before anything is done to the car, check with a local automotive specialist to see what is legal. Also consult the vehicle owner’s manual to see if the warranty will be intact if the modifications are made. If both check out, it should be safe to continue with the modification.

5 Good Reasons Why You Should Drive a Sports Car   no comments

Posted at 1:03 pm in Automotive
by Gerald Njuguna

In a popular culture where people love SUVs, economy cars, family sedans and sports cars stand out. We have many selling points for all types of cars but sports cars are a bit unique in the attraction because of reasons that we are going to discuss below.

1. Driving Quality

Sports cars are primarily created for performance compared to other types of vehicles that are created with function and affordability in mind. When you compare the driving experience of a sports car with that of “normal” cars, sports cars are more superior. Sports cars are able to make hug turns, accelerate faster and offer a level of driving control that you will not find in larger vehicles.

As a safe driver, you might be concerned with the quality of your driving experience, but let me tell you there is no real alternative to a true sports car. Designed to be pushed to the limit by the most demanding drivers in mind, sports cars beat the performance of other types of vehicles very easily. Just take a ride in an over sized SUV and them compare it to driving a quality sports car to understand the significant difference.

2. Beauty

While appearance might not be the main reason to use to buy a car, looking at our highways, your eyes will be confronted with cars that are pathetic to look at, making a discriminating buyer to go for beautifully designed sports cars.

Function might be crucial, but even in this utilitarian planet of cars people still seek cars that are more aesthetically pleasing. Many of us drive quite often and those drivers that want to spend that time in the presence of good design are more often likely to find the sleek lines and measured looks of sports cars alluring and a welcomed relief from the dull cars so many people decide to use for transportation.

3. Residual Value

We all know that every new car depreciates the moment it steps off the showroom. There are cars that are known to hold on to their value better than others. Very few become more valuable as time passes. Sports cars have beauty and quality combined and are more likely to become future classics and strong value-holders than many other automobiles.

I would suggest you have a look through the classified advertisements in your local paper. Find out which older cars still demand a strong price. I am sure you will find out that generic pickup trucks and economy cars fetch much less than high performance sports cars. Search for the classic cars that collectors demand. Find out those that are searching for old Chryslers? Compare with those people that are interested in a vintage Corvette? As you can see, sports cars have a bigger potential of becoming prized possessions.

4.Expression of the Individual

Every purchase that we make speaks volumes about ourselves. Someone who is comfortable in blending in with the crowd will most likely purchase a car that blends into traffic. We also have those who want to take each and every opportunity to maximize express their individuality. Since sports are fewer in numbers on the road, owning one gives you an opportunity to distinguish yourself from the crowd.

5. Having Fun

Lots of sports cars have a mystique image around them. Thia mystique hard to define buy nevertheless its there. Its there because top designers usually fret over the smallest details & drivers who are accomplished love the opportunity of testing the newest models. Sports car ownership is fun.

HHO Gas Conversion Kit - Can You Really Run Your Car On HHO Gas?   no comments

Posted at 8:09 am in Automotive
by James Jason

HHO gas conversion kit - what is it exactly? You probably have heard a lot about such kits in news or through friends. If you are looking for information on how to convert your car to run on HHO/H-H-O, you will not be disappointed.

H-H-O also known as Brown’s Gas has long been used as industrial catalysts for burning application. Recently, it was found out that it can improve gasoline combustion.

A researcher made use of this discovery to produce a HHO gas conversion kit or cell that can convert water into H-H-O for the car’s combustion engine. The end result is of course a jump in the performance of the vehicle.

Guess what, the idea has caught on despite strong opposition from industry players in the oil industry for profit and political reasons. Drivers do not really care much about what these huge oil consortiums think as long as they can save on fuel costs.

In the meantime, you can always assemble such a kit in your garage for less than $60 to $150. Download a copy of the DIY guide online and follow the instructions. The guide will show you what are the components needed and how to assemble them. From hoses to cables, water container and baking soda, the parts are cheap and uncomplicated.

Those who tried to build such a HHO gas conversion kit using ready manuals are able to complete them within a few hours. The set up is not complicated and all you need to do is to plug the kit to the carburetor or air manifold and power it with the car battery. The whole process is reversible and you can remove the kit and no one will ever notice.

The technology has been around for a few months now. Thousands of trucks, sedans, SUVs and motorcycles are now fitted with these fuel cells. There are testimonials of savings as high as $100 on average and vehicles can travel 5 to 10 miles more per gallon.

With oil and gasoline prices rising, it makes perfect sense to consider building a HHO gas conversion kit to power your car today.

Run Your Vehicle on Gasoline and Water   no comments

Posted at 2:27 am in Automotive
by Jamie Newhudson

A new revolutionary technology called Gas4free involves splitting water aboard a motor vehicle. It uses the resulting gases not to power the vehicle, but only to enhance the overall effectiveness of its combustion.

Gas4free is specifically designed as an easy to use system, with no special tools needed. As a self set up technology, it can be installed in the comfort of ones home with basic hand tools and installed in minutes.

With an easy set up instruction guide, the technology doesn’t require modifications to the engine, computer, or fuel ejection systems. Any average Joe mechanic or person can install the Gas4free system very easily. With the added bonus of steam cleaning itself everyday, no hands on cleaning is required.

Although the technology is over 91 years old, it was developed with a simple structure based on low cost hardware. Although there is other hydrogen generating designs, Gas4free is the easiest and safest to use. The electrolyzer, bubbler and water reservoir have all been combined into one super-easy device.

An additional advantage is the employment of coiled/spiralled electrode WIRES - rather than flat plates or spiralled plates. The magnetic vortex created by the coil supports water splitting so the power from the car’s electrical system is reduced. This helps simplify the system and even further lowering its cost.

The effects of this technology has improved mileage and lowered emissions, simply by using MORE COMPLETE COMBUSTION. It’s been proven that the internal combustion engines of today result in poor efficiency, some as much as 20%-25%. A good mechanic will tell you that 75%-80% of gasoline is converted to pollution and carbon deposits, instead of being converted to forward motion.

Although the technology does not run a car purely on water, it does enhance the use of both gasoline and water. This creates future possibilities and options to the future use of water fuel technology. With the right modifications, you are able to double the mileage, rendering a new energy balance, half water, and half gasoline. With little water used an economy car will get around 2700 miles per gallon of distilled water, combined with 4-6 teaspoons of household baking soda as catalyst.

Gas4free has become a buzzword for practicality and affordability. Its policy is to guide the readers toward a mindset of an experimenter rather than a driver that takes things for granted. Gas4free teaches something can be done about gas prices, pollution and global warming, and they gladly take an active role and help to spread the word.

Many experimenters are still working on variations to propane/LPG/CNG-propelled vehicles, together with boats and other applications such as stationary generators, but at this stage Gas4free is only available for diesel and gasoline trucks and cars.

With this new technology system, it’s now easy to power your car on both gas and water. Not only does this technology provide benefits to the planet and global warming, but also saves you money, which is always a HUGE plus.

Ways to Get a Bargain Deal at a Sheriffs Car Auction   no comments

Posted at 7:51 am in Automotive
by Calvin Anderson

Are you planning to go to a sheriffs car auction? If you are, then you have already made the best decision to owning your dream car. The auction will be a place for you to check out price ranges and hopefully give you that dream car at a very good deal.

If you are a family man, you probably need to tighten your belt just to get by. You have your house payments and your kids’ college fund to worry about. You have a lot of bills and payments to think about every month. Adding another bill for an overly priced family car won’t help. You need to find a great bargain for your buck.

Being well informed will be good in searching for your dream car. You don’t want to shell out more than what is actually needed after all. You are not being cheap, you are only being reasonable and your life will be better for it. Just think of the savings you will make when you buy your car at a sheriffs car auction.

The government or banks repossess property monthly and the seized properties tend to pile up. The government seizes houses, land and even cars. Since the ownership is returned to the government, the government can now put it up for auction. The cars you find at the sheriffs car auction are truly almost given away. The dream car you covet awaits you in one of these auctions; you just need to do a little research.

Now, just why are these cars given at a bargain rate? They would tell you that it’s storage. It would be better business on their part to auction these cars at a sheriffs car auction than to let them deteriorate and rust up housed in expensive storage facilities.

The conditions of these cars are good. Some even seem brand-new with no more than a couple of months of use. These pre owned cars range in type because the people who once owned them also have diverse taste.

It is not always possible for everyone to be prompt with payments; some things just come up and you have to miss a payment or two. This is how the seized cars got to the auction. You can then get these cars at the best prices; just follow the guidelines and conditions in your locality.

Read up on the sheriffs car auction here at my page and become a few more step closer to your bargain dream car!
