Car Rental On Maui Is Different   no comments

A friend of mine went to Maui. She had a great time. Has great memories. But you may be surprised to hear many of her memories were of her rental car. Learn from her experiences:

Now, renting a car seems to be a task you can do just about anywhere. If you have a phone, the internet and a credit card, it should be a piece of cake, right? Wrong!

If you’ve never been to Hawaii, you may not realize that Maui is different from being on the U.S. mainland. “Well, that’s the idea,” you may say. True, but when it comes to logistics, there can be problems. For example, Maui is a large island. My friend stayed on one side of the island, on the other end of the island from the rental company. She had to really plan out her departure date to make sure she had her car back in plenty of time and still make her connecting flight.

My friend also was disappointed that her dream vacation did not include driving her dream car. She had this fantasy of driving around Maui in a red sports car, like Magnum P.I. Well, when she got there, she found out there was a run on red sports cars that day. All the red sports cars were gone and the selection of rental cars is not the same as in the rest of the U.S. The only red car available was a red Pinto. She could have had a sports car, but when she saw how much more expensive it was, she decided a Pinto was nice, after all. (It costs more here than on the mainland car rentals.)

When she started planning her trip, she had heard that she should book her rental car early in order to get the one she wanted. There aren’t all that many cars available, she was told. She had blown off that advice, meaning to get to it later. Well, she didn’t and now she paid for it. See, another piece of advice she ignored was the bit about paying for the rental car early. That way, her red sports car would have been waiting for her and she wouldn’t have been stuck with the Pinto. The Pinto that broke down as she was pulling out of her hotel room on her way back to the rental place.

My friend also forgot to buy insurance and road service. It cost her a pretty penny to get road service and she had a hassle with the rental company when it came to settle up the bill at the end of the trip.

The rest of her trip? It was great, she said. But it wasn’t the same in a Pinto.

In todays environment looking for online auto loans is easy but the trick is obtaining a good rate and dependable financing. The greatest thing about the Internet is that consumers can conduct all sorts of business electronically that once had to be accomplished face to face. In many ways, that can be an advantage, in that it is possible to handle such matters as obtaining approval for a car loan online. Still, care should be taken when pursuing a loan online. Here are some hints to help you apply for online auto loans.

In today’s world many local banks will allow individuals to complete applications online for a loan. This means there is a good chance that a bank with a presence in your town has an online application process. When this is the case, you can rest assured that the loan application will be given the same type of consideration as if you had gone into the bank and filled it out in person.

Generally, the application can be processed quickly and you will receive an answer in a couple of days. Once you are notified that you have been approved you can go down to your local branch lending institution, sign the papers and be on your way.

There are many online lending institutions that do not have a local presence, but have over the last decade or so established a great reputation in the financial community. These are the types of online businesses that you want to secure a loan with.

Make sure that before you fill out any application for online auto loans be sure to investigate the lending institution involved. If you see consumer complaints or read reports of unreasonable terms, then stay away from those types of lenders. There are plenty of online finance companies that are trustworthy, have a high level of integrity, and will not try to rip you off.

At the same time, be aware there are sharks on the World Wide Web. There are many scams for online auto loans that will do nothing but rip you off and maybe even damage your credit rating. If you see advertisements for online auto loans with terms that seem too good to be true, they probably are. You would most likley be better off staying away from this type of financing. When all is said and done, you will be glad that you did.

There are more than a few components that need to work together in your car to ensure that you get a safe and efficient ride. Because many of these things need to be kept cool, the market in automotive fans deals in one of the more essential parts that you need to carefully research for your vehicle. While many drivers are good at keeping the fluid levels up and checking the tires, looking after the cooling fan and knowing when it’s time to replace or repair it is a mystery to a lot of us who get behind the wheel each day.

First off if your car overheats and you open the hood to see that the fan isn’t working properly you’re one step ahead as you’ve found the problem right off. Hypermilling Tips You Should Not Do   no comments

by Patrick G. Moore

The are many “hypermilers” that can come up with many thousands of creative solutions to increase gas mileage and save money on fuel. However, there are some tips or solutions you need to watch out. This is due to some of the tips that are highly dangerous. It is not worth to risk your life on the road. Bear in mind that safety comes first. No matter how important it is for you to save fuel and increase gas mileage, always think about the safety first.

Hypermilling means techniques that can be used by drivers to maximize the fuel efficiency of their automobile. This is because fuel is being used more than normal rate when the driving skills and behaviors are wrong.

The tips that you should avoid are:

Cruising through stop signs or running through the stop sign. It is said that you use up more fuel when you brake but when it comes to driving on the road, safety is more important than anything else. If you run through the sign, you are increasing the risk of accident and getting caught as it is illegal.

Tailgating large trucks. Do you realised that this is the worst tip of all. We know that the 18-wheelers are way too big compared to cars. Why put yourself in danger by tailgating the large truck?

Shutting off the engine while the car is still moving especially when it is moving downhill. Yes, it can save fuel but if there is an emergency, you are not able to accelerate or slow down which will increase the chance of accident. Imagine when you are going downhill and there is a point when you need to brake, and you lose control.

Over inflate your tires will reduce the tire surface contact with the road. It means that less fuel is needed to move the vehicle. At the same time, you will lose the grip on road and if there is a need to brake, you might lose control. The best way is to inflate the tires to the maximum rated PSI but don’t exceed the limit.

Some people remove their side mirrors to save fuel. It seems to be another popular way to add another mile to a gallon of fuel. I just don’t understand about how effective it can be because side mirrors are very important in driving a car. You need to use the side mirrors to look at the cars from the side ways.

Check out the wind forecast before you drive is the most lame excuse for saving fuel. If you need to check the wind why not get yourself a sail boat. Seems better if you are want to save fuel on the boat.

Hypermilling is a great way to save fuel but consider the tips before doing it or you will wish that you never do any of it.
